Vienna - Heldenplatz

Heldenplatz “Immured”
In the course of the last war years, the Heldenplatz showed a depressing scene: the heroic monuments of Prince Eugen and Archduke Karl were hidden behind walls, officially to protect them against bombs, but in fact to remove their presence. The art project “PEACE immured” recalls this picture. Both equestrian statues are immured again – a historic recollection and above all: Commemorating the millions of victims, Heldenplatz can temporarily renounce the war generals.
